Building Award-Winning Digital Belonging.

famille helped Urban&Civic deliver digital belonging through community based digital projects.

Urban&Civic Case Study

Wintringham, St Neots

They say moving house is one of life’s most stressful moments, but what comes next can be equally hard. At Wintringham in Cambridgeshire, famille made the transition easier, and won silver at the Digital Impact Awards for Best Use of Digital in the Property Sector along the way.

Through digital communications and community building, famille uses social listening, website experiences, social media, influencer marketing, and even a podcast series to create a friendlier, more welcoming experience for those considering relocation and new residents.

This is how famille continues to build community, and how we can do the same for your environmental or people-centred project.

The Challenge

When Urban&Civic, the developer behind Wintringham in St Neots, asked famille to support them, the challenge was more than just talking about new homes. Urban&Civic was creating a place with housing, green spaces, and community facilities. Our role was to bring it to life through honest and balanced communications that reflected and reinforced the vision.

From the very beginning, Wintringham needed more than business-as-usual marketing. It needed genuine connection.

Phase One: Foundations in Digital

famille knows the best way to start a project is by listening to both the client and the community. Audience research and social listening enable us to understand what is needed by identifying challenges and opportunities from new and upcoming residents. This means that famille’s work reflects the reality on the ground from families moving in, to commuters, and long-standing locals.

Harnessing those insights famille and Urban&Civic created a plan to deliver, including:

  • A carbon-conscious website with clear FAQs and accessible UX
  • A social media strategy to spark conversation locally and on commuter routes
  • A six-episode podcast blending authentic sounds, narration, and community voices

Not because famille thought it was the best thing to do, but because the community had signalled it. The work earned famille and Urban&Civic a Silver at the Digital Impact Awards 2020 for Best Use of Digital in the Property Sector, with results including:

  • 13,500+ podcast plays at £0.05 per clip thru play
  • Website dwell time of 2.16 minutes
  • 570 database sign-ups in the first month

Phase Two: Evolving with the Community

As Wintringham has grown, so too has its digital presence. This year famille managed the experience and copy for the website, which was designed to reflect the growth, both in reality and audience, of the development:

  • Nature & Sustainability focus: showcasing new features and leisure routes
  • Content strategy & UX design: translating environmental innovation into accessible, engaging stories
  • Strategic communications: weaving sustainability into the wider narrative of community growth
  • Influencer engagement: opening up Wintringham to wider audiences by connecting with local, regional, and national voices
  • Paid Media: Sensitively balancing growth with engagement through authentic ads that are rooted in the essence of the place

This phase built upon our earlier work and continued our philosophy of starting with people and building outward. Our collaboration with Urban&Civic to develop a sustainability-led strategy sets a benchmark for creating a place that feels like home.

"Thank you for all your work on the podcast series for Wintringham to get the series devised, developed, and delivered."

"At famille, we believe great places aren’t built with bricks alone; they grow when people feel connected, listened to, and proud to belong. Our role is to make sure both residents and clients see themselves in the story of their community.”
